The Voyage Data Recorder (VDR), often called the “Black Box for Ships”, is a mandatory safety system that records essential vessel data for accident investigation and performance analysis. Similar to an aircraft’s black box, the VDR ensures compliance with IMO SOLAS regulations and provides vital information for maritime safety authorities.
The Furuno VR-7000 / JRC VDR-5000, supplied by Symcom Marine, is designed to withstand extreme marine conditions and store voyage data securely for up to 30 days.
